Spider-Man, Night Thrasher, and Moon Knight part ways and await contact from Nova. Punisher, in disguise on board the Secret Empire ship, frees Nova and they start fighting Midnight and the Empire goons. Nova contacts Night Thrasher, he contacts the others, and they all race to the Secret Empire headquarters in Queens. Darkhawk sees them and follows. They all show up to the party and there’s a big fight. Thunderball makes a new costume and joins in the fight. There’s a break in the fight and the nurse who helped Midnight before reveals herself to be a cyborg.

After the procedure, Thunderball (Dr. Franklin) leaves to check on Nova. Nurse Church does her face trick on the other nurses and they agree to do some unauthorized additional procedures. Spidey and the gang figure out where Nova is and land. All but Punisher (who is hurt) go in and fight a bunch of Secret Empire goons. The heads of the Secret Empire ask Midnight to go fight them off, but he says only if they make him leader. He kills one of them and they agree. He fights Spidey and the gang, but Spidey damages one of his arms and Midnight flees. Him and the other heads fly off in a ship. When Spidey and the gang return to Moon Knight’s ship, they find out that Punisher’s gone and figure he must’ve hopped aboard the Secret Empire ship.

Spidey, Moon Knight, Night Thrasher, and Punisher catch up to Midnight at one of the branches of the Secret Empire. Not in time to rescue Nova. But a fight ensues with a large number of Secret Empire goons and the Seekers (Chain, Sonic, and Grasp). Spidey and the gang fail and the bad guys get away. Midnight brings Nova to the main HQ and they begin adding some enhancements to him. Secret Empire needs a new leader and Midnight secretly wants to take over. The operation on Midnight is painful and a nurse friend of his leaves. She tells a technician outside to plant something in his spinal column. He refuses at first but she does something (unknown to us) with her face and he fearfully agrees.

Spidey and Darkhawk save the civilians form the falling platform and part ways. Thunderball tours the Secret Empire facilities. He’s their new weapons designer. They want to build cyborgs as grunts and gather super villains to form a team. Thunderball says villains aren’t team players and suggests converting young super heroes. And specifically suggests Nova as a candidate. Spider-Man contacts Moon Knight and tells him his old sidekick Midnight is still alive. Midnight finds Nova and convinces him to go to the Secret Empire facility via trickery and deceit. On their way, Spider-Man catches up with them. Then Nova’s teammate Night Thrasher. Then Moon Knight shows up. Nova knows he’s been deceived by Midnight. Midnight knocks him out and flies off with him.

Moon Knight’s old sidekick Midnight was made into a cyborg by the Secret Empire after he supposedly died. He breaks Thunderball out of jail but is stopped by Darkhawk. They fight for a while before Spider-Man shows up and helps out. Thunderball creates a distraction and Midnight knocks down Spidey and Darkhawk and gets away with Thunderball. He sends a flying platform down into a crowd of people as a distraction for the heroes. Also, The Punisher gets info about the Secret Empire out of some druggie and then kills him (in self defense).
