“War Garden”

Rating: 3/5

Writer: David Michelinie

Black Cat helps a powerless (literally!) Spider-Man find Scorpion via spider tracer. Scorpion is with La Tarantula, Knockout, Whiplash, Mindblast, Bloodlust and the scientist who took away Spider-Man’s powers. The scientist reveals himself to be Chameleon. Black Cat fights all of them while Spider-Man uses the machine to restore his powers. Black Cat is down for the count and Spidey finishes off all the bad guys. Chameleon gets away. Somehow, Spider-Man using the machine made Black Cat’s powers go away. And he destroyed the machine. She seems to be okay with it.

There’s a doctor who wants to “show the world’s death merchants what is means to deal with Cardiac”. He’s Cardiac.

The Amazing Spider-Man #341 (1990)

“With(out) Great Power…”

Rating: 4/5

Writer: David Michelinie
Artist: Erik Larsen

Spider-Man has his powers zapped away. The scientist bought the machine from Tinkerer, only intending to keep Spider-Man suspended and helpless long enough to be dealt with. The loss of his powers are just a beneficial side effect. La Tarantula wants revenge against Spider-Man and holds a priest hostage until he arrives. Spidey shows up and clumsily fights La Tarantula without his powers. Flash runs in to help Spidey out. Felicia runs in to help Flash out. She actually cares about him now. The scientist decides next he will send Scorpion after the powerless Spider-Man.
