Spider-Man gets attacked by Killer Shrike but knocks him out and gift wraps him for the cops. Peter runs into Betty Leeds and she tells him she’s working undercover on a story for the Bugle. Some super creeps named Whisper and Pulse bust into the diner where they are and try to take Betty. Peter changes into Spider-Man and fights them. Spidey throws Whisper in the path of Pulse’s blast and Pulse says he’s dead and activates a bomb that blows up the restaurant so nobody get any info about the mission. Betty says she doesn’t want Spider-Man’s help and that she’ll go after Foreigner by herself.

Peter starts college again. He notices his spider sense tingle in the lab he’s assigned to. He comes back at night as Spider-Man and finds the Tinkerer in a back room making a weapon enhancer for Killer Shrike, who shows up right then. Killer Shrike attempts a double cross, but Tinkerer added a safeguard for such an event and Shrike is down for the count. Tinkerer escapes but Spidey gets Shrike to jail.

A girl Peter meets on the bus is hit by a drunk driver after they get off. The hospital says she needs a kidney transplant from her twin brother to live. Spider-Man finds her brother just as he’s about to kill himself for unrelated reasons and tells him about the accident. He gives her the kidney and she lives. Spidey also fights and knocks out Killer Shrike and the police nab him.

Will o’ the Wisp a villain called Killer Shrike and makes him kidnap Marla Madison and take her to the Special Powers Lab of some factory. There, Will o’ the Wisp (through Killer Shrike) tells Marla who he is and asks for help. She uses the equipment there to help him pull his molecules together into the form of a man again. And then Will o’ the Wisp tells Spider-Man that this lab is where he was made and he must destroy it. And so he goes into the circuitry via his glowing ball form and blows up the place. Spider-Man gets everybody out of the building.
