The Black Cat has some new gadgets that help her be more cat-like. Balance and agility enhancing implants, gloves that can sharpen to claws, and contacts that help her see in the dark. Her and Peter go to a mental hospital where Mendel Stromm’s assistant Max Young resides. They discover that he was broken out by Alistair Smythe. Spider-Man and Black Cat are attacked by a giant spider-slayer and destroy it. They figure Smythe’s behind it and set out to find him. Richard and Mary Parker get kidnapped by the FBI agent that was spying on Aunt May’s house.

Spider-Man suspects Tinkerer is behind the robots that have been attacking him. When he goes to Tinkerer’s workshop, he finds Felicia, who asked Tinkerer to make her some equipment to help her become the Black Cat again. Then Scorpion shows up, having just retrieved a new suit from Tinkerer. Then an amoebic, robotic spider-slayer shows up. Eventually the spider-slayer is destroyed and Scorpion gets away. Spider-Man now suspects Mendel Stromm. Who’s dead.

Aunt May visits Ben’s grave and reminisces about when her dad left her when she was a child, and when her and Ben were dating, and up to when Peter’s parents died and they had to raise him. She’s happy they’re back, but is afraid they’ll steal Peter from her.

Spider-Man gets attacked by several advanced robots. They were apparently sent by some guy in a fancy, futuristic wheelchair. Also there’s an FBI agent watching his Aunt May’s house. Presumably because of his parents.

Jameson tries to manipulate Peter into letting him run an exclusive story about his parents. Peter lashes out at him and says he has no decency. He nearly punches him until Joe Robertson steps in. After they leave his office, Jameson calls up his vulture of a reporter and tells her Parker said no so they’ll just have to work around him.”

Dr. Kafka and Edward are dragged into some underground cavern. The gobliny things reveal themselves to be mutates that were products of Dr. Zemo. The same doctor who turned Edward into Vermin. They convince Vermin to lead them and they cause some destruction above ground and get Spider-Man’s attention and Vermin turns back into Edward and leads Spidey to Dr. Kafka. Edward has a major breakthrough, but Zemo shows up and ruins everything.
