“The Hero Killers, Part Three: The Dark at the End of the Tunnel”

“Spidey and the rest of the heroes escape their respective foes. Silhouette gets kidnapped. They all meet up again and then find the room where all the other heroes are being held prisoner. They get trapped in a bubble and Sphinx comes out and says he was behind it all. To be concluded in New Warriors Annual.

Eddie tells the symbiote that he won’t abandon it and they’ll get out of it together. It rejoins his body and they break through the floor. Venom sees the kid Pablo who betrayed him and the kid is truly remorseful because he didn’t know his father died. Venom lets him live. He then finds the man responsible for the murder and decides to murder him in the name of justice. Later, the symbiote asks to bond with Eddie permanently and he agrees. They call their new union Venom after the poison Spider-Man forced him to write after ruining his journalism career.

“The Hero Killers, Part 2: Down and Downer”

Spidey aren’t doing so well against the Dreadnoughts until Night Thrasher, Silhouette, and Firestar show up and help. Spidey realizes the Dreads are being controlled and finds the humans behind them and takes them out. Then the gang finds out where the Speedball and other kidnapped heroes are being held and go there. They fight some security systems, but they all get pulled underground, which is the company’s plan. Inside, they all face different villains in their different areas of the compound. Nova and Namorita are up against Discus, Speed Demon, and Beetle. Firestar is up against Hydro-Man and Constrictor. Night Thrasher is up against Boomerang and Backlash. And Spider-Man and Silhouette are up against Rhino, Bombshell, and Stiletto.

Venom knocks out the police officers and goes to find his neighbor friend’s son Pablo, who was kidnapped by the same people who stole his invention. Venom finds the place and takes out some guards before finding Pablo, who shoots at him. Another guard dumps some molten metal after him that cause the symbiote to leap off his body in terror.

Spider-Man recounts his most embarrassing moments. Not being able to cash a check as Spidey, wearing the Halloween costume for a suit, the Spider-Mobile, revealing his identity to his friends, growing four extra arms, washing his Spidey duds in a laundromat with a paper bag on his head, losing to Stiltman..twice, nobody believed he was Spidey when Doc Ock unmasked him in issue 12, and Aunt May knocking him out with a vase.

Lightmaster siphons Dagger’s most of Dagger’s light. She makes an attempt to free herself but fails. Cloak finds them and shoots Lightmaster, but it only makes him stronger.

Venom/Eddie Brock breaks out of its prison. Spider-Man fights Hydro-Man, but he gets away. Nathan Lubensky (one of Aunt May’s boarders) has a gambling problem and Peter catches him stealing money to pay back some bookies. Peter helps Nathan get out of the jam, but Nathan can’t quit gambling.

The Sinister Syndicate surround Spidey and Silver Sable and are about to pound the living snot out of them. Sandman shows up and starts beating up the Sinister Syndicate. Spidey and Sable get free and start battling as well. Jack O’Lantern breaks Flash out of jail, thinking he’s the Hobgoblin, but the real Hobgoblin comes to him, calls him a fool, and fights him. Eventually Jack escapes. Also, Flash Thompson escapes from where Jack tied him up and is now on the run from everybody. Spider-Man, Sable, and Sandman hold their own against the Sinister Syndicate and The SS runs away because they don’t want to fight Spider-Man anymore. But they’ll be back. During the fight, Rhino hit Spidey pretty hard and it left him in pretty bad shape.

Jack O’Lantern arranges a meet up with Silver Sable. She asks Spider-Man to go with her. They both know it’s a trap. He doesn’t show up, but instead sends Rhino, Hydro-Man, The Beetle, Boomerang, and Speed Demon to battle them. Spidey and Sable hide under a roller coaster to form a plan, but the Sinister Syndicate knocks down the whole dern thing and have them surrounded. Meanwhile, Jack O’Lantern tries to horn in on Hobgoblin’s job with Rose. Hobgoblin (unmasked, but face obscured) goes into the street and runs into Mary Jane. Apparently he’s somebody she knows. Also, Sandman is trying to live a peaceful life in the suburbs, but notices the falling roller coaster and decides to go investigate.
