Dr. Kafka and Edward are dragged into some underground cavern. The gobliny things reveal themselves to be mutates that were products of Dr. Zemo. The same doctor who turned Edward into Vermin. They convince Vermin to lead them and they cause some destruction above ground and get Spider-Man’s attention and Vermin turns back into Edward and leads Spidey to Dr. Kafka. Edward has a major breakthrough, but Zemo shows up and ruins everything.

Dr. Kafka is making some great progress with destroying the Vermin personality within Edward Whelan. It’s almost gone completely, but Vermin knows it’s dying and is angry. A bunch of gobliny ghouls come in the middle of the night and kidnap him and Dr. Kafka.

Harry is getting psychological treatment by Dr. Kafka, but the police decide to take him to The Vault instead and just imprison him for his crimes. Harry hires Rhino to shake Peter up into thinking his secret’s gotten out. Peter makes a sneaky change into Spider-Man and knocks out Rhino and hangs him up.

Spidey meets Molten Man and tells him about Harry’s regression back to the Green Goblin and wants him to tells Liz. Harry returns home to tell his son that he has to leave for a bit, then Liz sees him in his costume as he’s leaving. Dr. Kafka is having a lot of progress with Vermin and via chemicals has even managed to transform him back into his human self for a bit. Spidey goes out to find Harry and stumbles upon Frog-Man.

Spider-Man, Vermin, and Harry all have to deal with their childhood traumas. Vermin was molested by his father. Peter’s parents died and he took the guilt on himself. Harry’s father didn’t love him and was a murderer. Vermin takes his mom and dad hostage, wanting to kill his dad, but he can’t pull the trigger. Spider-Man gets help from Dr. Kafka (now with mask on) and frees himself from the burden of guilt he’s put upon himself. In her office, they find out where Vermin is and Spider-Man swings off to him. They fight and eventually get onto the roof. Green Goblin shows up and knocks Vermin out, telling him Spider-Man is his.
