The Amazing Spider-Man #343 (1991)

“War Garden”

Rating: 3/5

Writer: David Michelinie
Artist: Erik Larsen

Black Cat helps a powerless (literally!) Spider-Man find Scorpion via spider tracer. Scorpion is with La Tarantula, Knockout, Whiplash, Mindblast, Bloodlust and the scientist who took away Spider-Man’s powers. The scientist reveals himself to be Chameleon. Black Cat fights all of them while Spider-Man uses the machine to restore his powers. Black Cat is down for the count and Spidey finishes off all the bad guys. Chameleon gets away. Somehow, Spider-Man using the machine made Black Cat’s powers go away. And he destroyed the machine. She seems to be okay with it.

There’s a doctor who wants to “show the world’s death merchants what is means to deal with Cardiac”. He’s Cardiac.

The Amazing Spider-Man #340 (1990)

“The Hero Subtractor”

Rating: 4/5

Writer: David Michelinie
Artist: Erik Larsen

A man just built a machine that he wants to use to study Spider-Man’s powers. Spider-Man agrees, but it starts taking away his powers and he jumps out of the beam. At an airport he fights and defeats The Femme Fatales. Including Mindblast, Whiplash, Bloodlust, and Knockout. He then decides he doesn’t want MJ or Aunt May to ever lose him, so he goes back to the scientist and says he wants to stand in the machine until it takes away his powers forever.
