A football star is throwing games for a guy who calls himself Rose. He decides he doesn’t want to do it anymore, Rose doesn’t like that. Spider-Man defeats Rose and his goons. Also, Spider-Man realizes that he has an endless supply of webbing with his new alien suit. Peter tells Aunt May that he dropped out of college and she freaks out.

The Black Cat goes on a search for super powers so she can assist Spider-Man instead of hindering him. The Kingpin agrees to help her. He just enhances her cat abilities using Stillwell’s devices. She acquires cat-like swiftness and whoever tries to harm her is dealt bad luck. Because she’s the Black Cat. Kingpin wants her to destroy Spider-Man, but doesn’t ask her to. I assume her bad luck is supposed to befall him. This issue ends the same as 251 of Amazing Spider-Man. Leading into Secret Wars.

Mr. Hyde wants to kill Cobra. Spider-Man tries to fight them. But Black Cat gets in the way and Spider-Man nearly dies. As long as she doesn’t have super powers, she’ll be a liability and will only make things more difficult for Spider-Man during his fights.

Spider-Man is still wary of letting the Black Cat share his nighttime adventures due to the fact that she could die. But he decides to let her into his life completely. No secrets. He takes her to Daily Bugle to show her where he works, but the Fly swoops in and attacks Jonah for turning him into a bug. Something which happened in an annual long ago. Spider-Man rushes in and fights him and beats him. He then swings off with Black Cat to show her where he lives.
