Spider-Man 2099 #2 (1992)

“Nothing Ventured…”

Rating: 4/5

Writer: Peter David
Artist: Rick Leonardi

Miguel’s assistant, Aaron, starts shooting at him and blows a hole in the wall. Aaron falls out the hole but Miguel catches him. His talons rip Aaron’s arm to shreds and he shakes Miguel loose and falls to his death. The police of the future, called Public Eye, come in and tell him to freeze. He jumps out the hole and figures out the talons enable him to cling to, and climb on, the walls. He makes it home and finds he’s ultra sensitive to light and his talons automatically retract when he gets close to his own body. He figures he needs to wear something made of unstable molecules fabric to keep from ripping it. The only thing he owns that’s made of it is a costume he got from the Day of the Dead festival in Mexico. Alchemax sends an elite cyborg tracker/killer named Venture after the trail of whoever blew a hole in the building. Miguel sees him outside his building and quickly puts on his costume and jumps out to him.
