Rating: 4/5

Writer: Peter David
Artist: Rick Leonardi

In the year 2099, a young scientist named Miguel O’Hara works at a company called Alchemax and is doing genetic experiments on animals. He shows a picture of Spider-Man to his assistant and says that’s what he aspires to for the experiments. He’s not ready to test on humans, but they force him to and his first subject comes out a freak and dies almost immediately. He decides to quit, but his boss spikes his farewell wine with a hallucinogenic drug called Rapture that is legal, highly addictive, and only produced by Alchemax. He later comes to the lab after hours and tries to re-implant his DNA with a file from before he took the drug. His disgruntled assistant comes in and messes with the equipment and creates a 50/50 mix between Miguel and a spider. Miguel comes out not dead, but with talons on his fingers, glowing eyes, and fangs.
