“Friends and Enemies”

Rating: 4/5

Writer: Gerry Conway
Artist: Alex Saviuk

Jameson prints one of Peter’s photos on the cover of the first issue of his new magazine. Joe Robertson is furious, because he feels the “faked” Spider-Man photos was a breach of journalistic ethics and doesn’t want anything to do with Peter anymore. Tombstone threatens The Molten Man (Mark Raxton) into helping steal something from Harry’s factory. Molten Man tells Spider-Man about it and asks to help set a trap. Joe Robertson gets a tip about where to find Tombstone and get him nailed by the cops. MJ tells Peter about the Green Goblin garb she found at Harry’s. Tombstone shows up at Harry’s factory and Spider-Man and Molten Man fight him and his goons. Green Goblin shows up and helps Spidey and Molten Man. Tombstone gets out and finds the chemical he wants to steal, but Joe finds him and shoots him in self defense and knocks him into a chamber that closes and fills with gas. Spidey, Goblin, and Molten Man show up and pry open the door to find Tombstone gone and a hole in the wall. Apparently the gas was an experimental preservative that bonds to cellular walls and prevents decomposition. It was designed for plants, not animals.
