Making sense of this Spider-Man world.

Web of Spider-Man #52 (1989)

Rating: 5/5

Writer: Frank Springer
Artist: John Romita

J. Jonah Jameson tries to escape from the chains Chameleon tied him up with. After all his effort, he gets to the door to find Chameleon, who forgot his briefcase. This story is intercut with one about when Jonah was twenty years old. He was working on a story, trying to expose police corruption. His informant gets shot by the police, Jameson gets beat up, then a kid tagging along accidentally gets killed instead of him. The editor of the Bugle inspires him to keep going. Jameson goes to the police chief’s office and gets on tape his confession of murder. The police chief begs him for mercy. Jameson walks away like a boss.
