The Spectacular Spider-Man #148 (1989)

“Inferno: Night of the Living Ned!”

Rating: 4/5

Writer: Gerry Conway
Artist: Sal Buscema

Betty Leeds has a vision of Ned, Gwen Stacy, and Spider-Man crawling out of graves as zombies. Her and Flash narrate this issue as they each have to battle a demon. A Ned Leeds zombie attacks Betty, but she soon becomes strong and snaps out of her scared state of mind. She realizes it’s not really Ned. Then the zombie turns into a normal demon form and tries to attack her. Meanwhile, Flash is on the roof and Spider-Man comes to him and beats him up and insults him, then webs him to the antenna. Flash breaks free and fights him. He pulls Spidey’s mask off to see another more horrifying Spider-Man mask. It’s a demon in disguise. They crash into the room where Betty and the other demon are. Betty gets a gas heater, breaks the valve and shoves it in the demon’s stomach and her and Flash run outside as the apartment explodes. They see that everything is returning to normal and there are no more demons or people crying. X-Factor #38 tells how everything finally ended.
