The High Evolutionary wants to purify the human race to prepare for it the next stage of evolution. He wants to capture the Gwen Stacy clone to study it. She gets in contact with Peter first and then they both go to another dimension where Gwen is studied and Spider-Man fights High Evolutionary’s mech-suited men. Also, some gods gave a dozen humans godly powers and are teaching them how to use them. Spider-Man frees the Gwen Stacy clone and High Evolutionary tells him that Professor Miles Warren hadn’t actually perfected cloning. He merely took a person of similar stature and injected them with a genetic virus that changed them into almost identical DNA matches. Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy clone go back to Earth and one of the gods restores Gwen Stacy clone to her original self.
