Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #051 (1981)

“Aliens and Illusions!”

Rating: 4/5

Writer: Roger Stern
Artist: Marie Severin

As it turns out, the aliens aren’t aliens at all. Just some unemployed extras who wear alien costumes for their schemes. In fact, they are from issue number 2 of Amazing Spider-Man. And reveal that one of the “aliens” from that issue is actually the guy who became Mysterio. Peter’s put in a holding cell, changes into Spider-Man, finds out he’s in a movie sound stage and finds the master control room where he torments Mysterio with holograms of many Spider-Men. Mysterio is holding Deb Whitman (Pete’s date) hostage in hopes to make Peter talk about the mobster’s hidden loot. Deb cracks Mysterio in the dome and Spider-Man sends him packing.

White Tiger gets the best of the people who overpowered him earlier and goes on a rampage, beating the crap out of tons of people in the warehouse. But the leader (called Mace) corners him and shoots him with his machine gun, hitting him several times.
